I thought running e85 significantly reduced EGTs, on account of both its intrinsically lower heat of combustion and the higher ignition advance it allows you to run...

All things being equal yeah, but excessive back pressure and/or lean mixtures can still result in high EGT. Its not magic, even though it sometimes seems like it is

What is an EFR anyway, Ernie? Is it an exhaust manifold, or a turbine housing, something like that? Thanks

Don't get me started...I'll never stop!

It's the world's greatest turbo of course.

As soon as we can get reliable results from one that doesn't blow up we will all see how great they are...

Pretty tough to do when the engine that the turbo is bolted to fails twice.

Engine failures damaging turbos is not a new thing... And should not be used as an indicator for the reliability of a turbocharger. You don't have to do an fmea to see that.

Ha, I was being a smart ***...

That aside, I do know one EFR blew up and the motor was in perfect shape before and after though.

I love how this turned into an EFR Thread

The car has run UP TO 700whp (520kwatw on a dynapak).
But it runs approx 500whp for track work. About 22-24 psi. So it's no lazy duck, but not a rocket.

For reference for NZ boys, it's doing 1:03's around Pukekohe raceway (local track for the E&H Motors crew).

EGT Sensors are on the cards, and i might try to talk them into Exhaust pressure sensors too for testing.
I Doubt the EFR 7670 will make it onto this car for a while, it's reserved for the Gymkhana WRX STI (http://www.facebook.com/carlruitermandrifting)

The housing in question is a 1.06 T3 TS housing from ATP for a GT35.
I wonder if the reduced backpressure from a T4 housing (twin scroll) would help... I would say a configuration change would be out of the question at this stage.
He's probably going to run a single scroll housing on the twin scroll manifold for now, there is a race meeting coming up next weekend. This will give good data for single vs twin scroll on exactly the same setup too.

I think the EFR 8374 would be a perfect match for this also, but by the sounds of it there aren't any more available till May?

Cheers, Mike

Garrett should have their new T3 divided housings out sometime next year which will be ni-resist I believe.

Thanks. I guess that I missed those FR threads. I'll have to broaden my reading horizons.

There is an 8374 available through Accsa... he states so in the BW EFR thread.
