NO reverse lights WTF!

i recently bought a 03 EVO VIII TB, while getting it taged and inspected the tech noted my reverse lights don't work? a mitsu fan friend of mine pointed out that this is a common problem with the reverse switch on the transmission? the previous owner had a short shifter installed, is it possible that the short shifter could be a cause for this problem? any info would be great and i don't have a EVO

tech manual yet so if any one could point me in the right direction as to which "sensor/switch" on the transmission controls the reverse lights it would be appreciated.

Check and see if the harness for it is plugged in on top of the tranny. Check the bulbs too?

i'll check the top of the tranny, the bulbs are good that was my first instinct. i just glanced at the trans and was lost one which connector does what.

my reverse lights don't work i checked bulbs and light fuses and they were all good a friend recommended that i change the switch located on the trans i am going to the dealership later this week.
