Safe way to make 400-450 WHP?

Hey guys, just picked up and 04 Evo RS and looking to get about 400-450 whp.

The car came with the following:

HKS 270 cams
HKS cam Gears
HKS turbo back with no cat
ACT clutch with street disk
Walbro pump
Bigger FMIC
Evo 9 turbo

Currently it has an unknown tune and runs like crap. The guy before me was running TIAL valve along with MAF sensor still in place??? THinking about converting back to stock like valve instead.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry I forgot to list I do have a FMIC,walbro pump and evo 9 turbo...

So it leaves me pretty much to just go get a right tune with e 85. How much you thinking I be putting down?

A 9 turbo can do over 400 on E85 no problem on a dynojet. You're on 91 like you said, very different.

Over 400 on a 9 turbo w/ e85 isnt exactly safe for the stock motor. To make that power u usually need 30+ psi which means well over 400lb-ft, which is enough to snap rods or lift the head. It can be done, and is being done by many on here. It's one hell of a fun setup, but not one I would consider safe for the motor. I know theres plenty of people running that setup on a completely stock motor, but they are also aware of the risks they are taking.

IMO the safest way to get to 400+hp is with a larger turbo that will spool later (safer for rods) and will make more power on less boost (safer for oem head bolts). Look into FP, CBRD or MAP turbos

would adding the water/methanol kit make a difference on achieving the 400 to 450 hp range with all of the supporting mods in example....
evo 9 turbo with forge waste gate
272 cams
walbro pump
bigger injectors 1000cc or better
tbe HKS
helix 02 housing
3.5 in fmic?

I was told that the water/meth would greatly aid in achieving this power goal....Would this be correct?

E85, DW Fuel Pump/Walbro 400, Minimum 1050cc injectors, FP DBB GREEN, S2 cams or Keldford 272, Supertech Dual Valve Spring and Retainers, STM UICP, Buschur 4 FMIC w/ LICP, O2, Port TB, ex mani and intake mani, hallman mbc, Tial Q or QR (Depends on if your run MAF or SD) New Spark Plugs, Boost Leak Test, plan on a clutch as well for that power if your racing it and Most IMPORTANT A GOOD TUNE! HTH!

Swap out the cams for some s2's or kelfords IMO

Bigger injectors with e85. But yeah, bigger turbo because the 9 would be pushing the limits.

You could contact Dynotech tuning

+1^^^^ Well said, it can be done, but the way you are going to do it comes at a price bro. I mean if this was a short term one time check the block kinda goal obviously you'd be fine(safe) but realistically if this is gonna be the daily do, you'll def wanna look into better pistons, rods, bearings, and prolly a ported head depending on how much farther you wanna go down the road. Cause once you get to 400... you'll likely wanna reach for 5, and so on, and so on
