i would only recommend a dogbox if the gears are helical not straight cut. (being that you are keeping it as a street car)

Best upgrade is a 5 speed. The 6 speed has 10 lbs of crap shoved into a 5 lb bag and there is nothing to change that. Better metal helps, but the gears just arent wide enough.

that is what I am going to be running with the different final drive and, an external oil cooler. PPG make the gearsets for John that he tried and tested for 12 months.

I'm not sure if your car is a daily, targa (tarmac rally), strip or toy.

There are a few people now in Australia with different weekend warrior cars that run dog boxes. I will eventually go down this path with mine I think.

if so view these Australian manufacturers if it is to your liking -

or, Kaaz I believe are European based (Czech from memory or slovak) and can supply you with what you want/need.

Or you can swap out as Lucas says and run a 5 speed- box, linkages etc- both use same clutch though.

Your choice- I prefer a 6 speed on feel and with the new final drive I'll be able to hit 300km/h (important on one Australian track I will hit hopefully next year) where the 5 speed will run out of puff with me on the rev limiter at 8500rpm.....

I dont want a dogbox. i use my car as a dailydriver during the summer. the car only goes on the street not on tarmac or rally. mayby some strip next year.
What is the price for this upgrade and where do you buy? i saw a couple of firms that have complete 5 speed gearbox to send, http://teamrip.com/NEW_EVO_STAGE_3_TRANSMISSION.html ..do you know if there is anywhere to buy the other stuff except for the gearbox that is needed for a 5 speed conversion?

+2

I plan on going the 5-speed route myself.
It can handle quite a bit more tq than the 6-speed in stock form and can be built alot cheaper than the 6-speed too.
It's lighter, the gearing is better,...
It's all good

there you go. send tre an email and he can set you up with everything you need to swap a 5 speed in. a stage 2 is plenty stout though.

Check this thread for a list of all the parts needed to do the swap:

You can probably find most, if not all of this stuff in the Market Place section, or you could buy new from the dealer.
