Turbo guru please help and ya'll with AMS turbo kit

1) Is the turbine housing of the old AMS 50 trim from PT the same size as the 30R Garrett GT of the same A/R ?

2) Will the current Garrett 5 bolt "Ford style" housing work with the first gen AMS turbo kit ?
http://www.treadstoneperformance.com...g+for+GT+Turbo

I currently have the old 50 trim AMS turbo kit and would like to swap turbo to an HTA 3076. I understand I can use my 50 trim turbine housing on the HTA, however I'd like to end up with about if not the same exact A/R ratio, i.e not loose a lot of the performance.

Any help will be much appreciated.

If you are asking if you can purchase the same type of housing then the answer is likely yes. If you need a 5-bolt housing I bet you can have it cut for the GT30r turbine wheel.

You can use the turbine housing from your AMS 50 trim on the the HTA3076. Should be no problem.

Back when AMS offer the 50 trim, PT was still using Garrett casting for their housing. Now they said the're doing it in-house so they do not and cannot offer the old style Garrett based housing anymore.
The big question is, is the old 5 bolts housing from PT interchangeable with that of Garrett 5 bolts "Ford style" currently available.
At this point I could not find anybody selling the old style Garrett based 5 bolt PT housing.

I realized that but that is not my question. I wanted to know if they are of the same size for a given A/R so that if I use the .63 A/R 50 trim housing on the HTA 3076 I'll end up with an HTA 3076 with an A/R of .63.

To put it another way, are the turbine wheel of the 50 trim the same size as that of the 30r garrett ? That's what I should have asked in the first place.

The wheels are different assuming the 50-trim used a standard stage III turbine wheel. If you were running a 0.63 a/r and liked it you should probably stick with the same a/r for the GT30r turbine wheel. It will likely be the same turbine housing just cut for the larger wheel.

Info are hard to come by for the 50 trim but like you said the turbine is most likely a stage three wheel in which case the specs (of the current available stage 3) are,
65mm exducer
57mm inducer
Wheel diameter - unknown
For the Garrett 3076r they are
76mm exducer
57mm inducer
Wheel diameter of 60mm

Looks like there's quite a bit of difference, I'll probably have to hog out the 50 trim housing quite a bit to maintain the same A/R of .63

You need to source that housing cut for the GT30r turbine wheel from ATP Turbo. I see they have them in 0.63 a/r and 0.82 a/r for $249.

Thanks for all your help, looks like that's what I'm going to do. I think I'm going to stay with the .63 a/r
