i finally blew up my motor

i finally blew up my motor


3rd gear pull and bang! alot of smoke from the exhaust came out, car stalled, i opened the hood and smoke came out too, oil was leaking all over the pavement!!....

any ideas of the damage???
estimated cost?im planning for a built 2.0
i already contacted the shop to do the rebuild.


hard time.... lessons learned!

What kind of power were you making?

Id say a rod went through the block, the norm. Just get ya a new shortblock and call it a day. This is why I am looking for a shortblock now, the evo's block core charge is just too expensive to chance it lol.

Just seen your dyno results. At 447 ft lbs, I wouldnt expect it to last long haha.

How many miles did it have? Im at 99600.

when you say you did a 3rd gear pull, did you start at sayy, like ~2k RPM? or less?

nope... prolly around 3.5-4k

Sounds like rod failure. Take a look around the block and see if you have a hole in it. Depending on your intentions with the car a built block would be the way to go.
