Electronic Oil Pressure Gauge Fitting won't fit?

Hey guys,

I have an 05 Evo 8. I recently bought the AEM Wideband and Sport Comp Electronic Oil Pressure gauge to add to my sport comp boost gauge. Today, upon install, I noticed that the fittings for the tap in the oil filter housing where you have to run into to set up the sender was bigger than any of the fittings supplied in the gauge set wouldnt fit. So I ran up to the parts store with the plug that i took out of the housing to get an adapter fitting that matched the same thread size (3/8"). When i got home and back under the car i went to thread the new fitting in and it would only go about 1.5-2 threads in and then tighten up to where i cant even hand tighten it anymore. I do not want to try and wrench it down in fear that i will strip the threads and such. Funny thing is the plug i took off originally still goes in and out fine. The threads appear to be the same on both which is where i'm confused.

I guess what im asking is to avoid playing around with a bunch of different fittings is there a place online i can buy a kit that comes with all parts need including the 90 degree bend i'll need to leave clearance for the sender??

Any help would be appreciated.

David

My aftermarket oil-pressure sender fits to the back of the block - not the old by the filter housing.
