Car Runs Bad After Head Gasket Change
Well,
I bought an Evo in the summer and haven't stopped having problems with it. The head gasket blew because the car overheated because the previous owner installed the thermostat in upside down. So, H11s and a new Mitsu Gasket went on, as well as a new thermostat.
The work was done by a professional shop, not myself, as the event happened with the car 6 hours away from home. My buddy picked the car up for me (as he was out where the car was located), and immediately reported the car ran like crap. Unstable idle, extremely low power, stuttering and hiccuping under any load. The car was professionally tuned and ran PERFECT before the head came off. I don't know what it could be.
The timing is on.
Vacuum lines look good.
Any ideas? I want a reliable car, and this thing has been the furthest thing from reliable since day one.

was the head checked for warpage? was it decked? Sounds like you might have a leak between cylinders. Buddy went through the same thing on his dsm. Do a compression check, see if one of the cylinders is abnormally lower than the others.

Will do. Head went to the machine shop and was decked, as it was a tiny bit warped. I found a broken ground on the cam sensor, and also think that my ignition timing needs to be resynched with the AEM. I'll post up what I find when both are fixed.
