boost creep

Hey I'm fairly new to boost and have a bit of a problem. I have an evo 9 bc cams, valvetrain, 880 injectors and 255 Fp and is apparently tuned by previous owner. When I am stepping on it in the longer gears like 4th and 5th my boost slowly creeps up from 19psi to like 24psi and pops like I hit a wall. Only does it time to time. Can anyone shed some light on my problem? Thanks.

The pop and wall you just is boost/fuel cut. Basically you have too much boost coming from the turbo so the engine cuts to stop you running lean and doing serious damage. Fuel cut from the factory I believe is 23 psi. Your gauge is probably reading a fraction high (mine does the same).

If it hasn't been tuned by someone with a lot of tuning experience, my recommendation is to get a proper tune from a shop. If you still have issues after that, then start looking at your hardware, wastegate and such. A tuner should be able to pick up on the reason for your creep.

You are hitting overboost. Have you thrown any ses lights? If so like the others said check your wastegate, then if problem persists have a tuner take a look.

That is 100% boost creep and 100% overboost. The car is cutting fuel like it is designed to do. Boost creep isn't really a bad thing if you tune for it.

Sounds like boost cut. Bring it to a good tuner and get it re-tuned!

How are you controlling boost incidentally? Sometimes if the weather is extremely cold this can account for about 3-4 PSI of over boost. Let's say that the previous owner tuned the car and set the boost during the warmer summer months and now you are driving it in the cold winter evening temps...this could exacerbate the problem.

Yea, like said before. Have a tuner check it out. Also, if you get that hta green turbo, I wouldnt be stomping on it in 4th or 5th anymore lol.
