on the gunk issue, let's think outside of the box. How did the other large car companies fix the gunk issue on their flex fuel vehicles?

Seems that they add in at the end that seafoam seems to work as well as gasoline at dissolving the gunk.

That's a nice thread!

as far as the extent of the damage on my car it's not fully known yet. The obvious is the top of the block and bottom of the head will need to be repaired. I'm not sure about the cylinder/pistons/rings/rods/bearings/crank etc..

Definitely glad to see this has all been resolved There is enough drama in the Mitsu world, its nice to avoid adding any more.

I wonder if the atomization particle size/pattern of the nozzles has an effect on the gunk buildup? It would be interesting to see if someone can have the gunk chemically analyzed and compared with the same fuel in the tank. That way we can determine if its 100% fuel or if its something else from the fuel lines, rubber seals, etc...

The sugar is in the fermentation process. The sugar isn't left after the distilling.

I go out of town for a week and all hell breaks loose. I'm going to try that Lucas E85 ethnaol injector cleaner today if i can find it. Glad y'all worked it out. Its surprising when people act like adults, can admit mistakes and that could've handled any given situation better. Kudos to you guys.

According to an outside test it is Carbon, water, and trace amounts of fuel cooked at 150*. The info was on the DSMlink board, I will go look for it. They could replicate it easy enough but not explain why it formed in the first place.

I just finished up checking out my FIC 1100c injectors and there was zero buildup, I have been running e85 for the last 3 months 100% of the time.

I also tossed in a can of seafoam just to be sure.

On my 91 Galant I was running FIC 2150cc injectors and I had the build up. I got my E85 from the same place as always.
