Looking for Feedback on Kelford 264/260

I would like to know about this specific cam for the Evolution VIII

I have listen to the 272s and I do not like the lumpy idle.

Does anyone run the 264? What are your thoughts on it?

A video of an evo running this cam would be PHENOMENAL!

If your concern about running the Kelfords only exists because of the lopy idle, you can just add timing at idle and the problem is solved.

Plus, how often are you really at idle? Why sacrifice tons of power for a sound that you don't like that only happens a minute for every hour you drive?

I do not like the aggressiveness of the exhaust note, or how loud it is. I want a cam that is just enough to free up a little more power but doesn't sacrifice low end, drive ability, or how the car acts at idle. I don't drive a Honda with a fart musket, a v8 muscle car, or a speed boat and I would like for it to continue to not sound like I do. My car is quiet unless I am above 1/2 throttle

Why would you think that the cam choice might have an impact on the exhaust sound throughout the entire RPM range?

Because every car I have seen with this lumpy of a cam has sounded like a monster truck going down the road. Given none of them were evos but I used deductive reasoning.

The point is moot because I don't want that aggressive of a cam, and I don't want that sound at idle. I do not want 272s and I didn't make this thread to discuss 272s or how awesome they are, because I agree that they are awesome but they aren't what I want.

But I am in for any info on the Kelford 264/260s if you have any!

I thought they're quite an aggressive cam for a 264 (comparable with HKS 272s) no?

Holy sh*t dude if your tuner knows anything about Evo's, he can fix your choppy idle. That's what we're trying to tell you.

Why do you think there's no info on them? Because no one runs them. Why you may ask? Because for the money there are cams that will benefit your car 10x more than these.

just buy the 272's...and have your tuner add timing to make your idle not lope.

This is my perspective tuner, the closest awd dyno, 4 hours away. The next closest one is 8 hours away in Chicago. Honestly I don't know if they have the skill to do as you say.

Do you have any examples of an idle being fixed from these cams? If it sounds half as terrible as that white evo does I still do not want it. I do not want my car to sound like its is about to die.

If I can't find anyone to testify to these cams I was going to get the HKS 272s whose idle is not as bad as the Kelfords, but still worse than what I want.

Also check out FP4r...i have a Those cams, it is perfect at Idle and sounds not that agressive like that white evo in vid.

I know my buddy has 264 cams, but cant remember what brand. Sounds quite but he regret that didnt go for 272. I can find a what brand if you want.

I would appreciate that. Honestly I really wanted to do the 272 Kelfords before I heard that video and saw that they require springs/retainers. They are more aggressive than the hks 272s and make a lot better power.

Buddy is running Crower. Hummm i'm sure the stock springs/retainers are fine with Kelford 272's as long as you stay at stock rev limit.
