They have a lot of problems and can not boost that high, used to have a NSX and people who had them replaced them all the time.

Twin Variable Vane Turbos on an NSX is wickedly fast. KInda makes the world bend around you. incredibly linear as a stock NSX, but with painful amounts of thrust.

I didnt see why of the turbos there that would push enough air for my application but thats a step in the right direction...do they have custom applications?

I thought the twin-scroll design was Mitsubishi's answer to having the ability to increase spoolup on a larger turbo? More or less what the VNT design was intended to do?

I owned an '87 CSX m'self. Never sat in a VNT but saw one around town. Those damned gold wheels on the maroon car were too much for me to be interested. But I always wondered about the VNT...

Good luck in your search and let us know what you decide upon!

The VNT never took off cause it doesn't work well. Those nozzles that direct airflow are in themselves a big resitriction to flow.

Are you running the 63 or 82 housing on your gt35r?

Does the VNT turbo use a seperate computer to control the vanes that open and close in order to vary the pressure to spin up the turbo, or was it some sort of vacuum/boost solenoid? I remember the concept and if memory serves the were several vanes around the exhaust houseing that pivoted to control the flow. I just don't know how you would control the vanes?

If you try to get a turbo that big to spool any faster, chances are you will just run into compressor surge instead. Remember that you have to stay to the right of the surge line with respects to your operating point.

As far as I know, VNT turbos have issues with reliability.

You are searching for the holy grail. Nobody has found that, either, btw.

you will always have a problem with spool up on large turbos, its simple phisics, larger masses take longer (with same force) to accelerate. So the solution is to make lighter turbos (thats why Mitsu use Ti and ford racing used ceramic turbine blades!), reduce friction (ballbearings, ceramic if poss) or just creat more force (ANTI-LAG, hehehe). Speek to Norris Design in the UK, i read a report on his car and it was said that his 500+BHP motor had no lag at all!!!!!

How about a twincharge setup like someone suggested before? (supercharger and turbo) HKS once offered this setup
