FP71HTA vs BBK Full

Both are rated as 51lb min turbos. I always considered the BBK Full to be much bigger based on dyno charts of 550whp I have seen floating around.

However - I wanted to start this thread as I believe we will all be pleasantly surprised with the 71mm HTA and its capabilities for the extremely reasonable upgrade price that FP offers.

I am working with Strictly Modified with this turbo on my car and it made a single walbro rewired run out of fuel on E*85 at 29 lbs. They are putting in a rewired DW today. Later this afternoon I will post the VDR's in the dyno tuning section but I believe this turbo will end up being very very similar to the BBK full. Wondering why there is ZERO hype on this little guy..... Has anyone on this forum tuned a 71HTA on E85 yet?

looks like a good little turbo but the bbk full is rated 49lbs/min per CBRD site. I run a bbk full and love it at around 448hp 405-420 tq on VD dynojet 91oct+meth. But if your on a budget it looks the way to go if your looking for 400-450whp.

^ I always thought the BBK full was 51lb/min rated and really was more like 53lb/min.

I really believe this 71MMHTA is going to hit 500WHP DJ on E85. Time will tell but its going to surprise some people I believe and start a trend. I think people mistake this turbo as a glorified FP white when really it is not at all. It flows far better than the old school original FP green. It is only 3lb/min less than the HTA green which on kill can make 550+whp all day every day. My car will be close to kill mode on the 71HTA, full mod list provided with dyno charts and I really believe it will get very close to 500.

So I am having an injector problem apparently. The 1200CC Precisions are not doing the trick - they are old and probably need cleaned.

Anyway, the car richened up a lot with the DW pump but is not rich enough to really push it.

@27lbs the car made 434whp and 401wtrq Dyno Jet. I think at 33lbs it will get into the 475whp range just need to figure out the fueling problem. More to come.

we said the BBK full was about 49 or so- but flow numbers/hp figures had people bump it up to 51 estimated-

we still say 49-

the nice part about the 71hta imho is that even pushed you can sorta keep yourself outta send a rod on vacation territory.

it has a very nice price point too.

Yep E85 and taper was next to nothing. 25lb wastegate. Taperes like 1lb at 7900ish rpm.

New FIC 1450's, FIC rail and FIC regulator ordered up. End of week were going to dial it up. :-)

Price point, and relative low power ability in the line up of FP turbos may be going for it, but a robust e85 tune would surely be disasterous. On 93, with my poor tuning ability I still hit over 400 ftlbs, 413 or so ~30 psi. Im sure somone who knows better tuning may find the limit of torque to be at a lower psi.

Is 25 psi @ 7000 rpm on a set of mild cams pushing this turbo too hard on 93? I bought a 18 psi wga from FP, considering 18 is what I want my DD tune to be at, and I want to turn it up for the track and autocross.
