Do your 60k service ahead of schedule!!
So my car hit 58,325 miles and on my way home from school I hear a slapping noise. I think oh sh**, I think it could possibly be my timing belt. Luckily I was two minutes away from my house and once I pulled into the garage I took the top cover off to see some shavings but the belt was still intact and tight. At this point I was confused and said screw it, I'll just do the 60k service. Well as soon as I started look what I found just in the nick of time...

WOW. good catch. Should be able to get them out, but if the part is only $40 mite as well just replace it . time is $.
Also be sure to take the plug out of the front of the motor, or spin the motor until the balance belt is at its tdc mark and the motor is at tdc. The balance shaft can show 180 degrees out and you would never know it. until you start it, best way is to just pull the plug out of the front of the motor to be sure before you pull anything apart.

This is the first time this has ever happened to me. It has never occurred on either one of my dsms. Sometimes the problems I run into with this car makes me want to get rid of it. Thankfully I can just replace the gear and I picked one up from the dealer along with an oem serpentine belt. I already have the down pipe off and a flat head behind the block holding the balance shaft in place. That big bolt was a b**** to get off. I used a breaker bar plus another bar on top of it while holding onto the gear with a monkey wrench to get it to break loose. One of the bolts in the crank pulley was completely loose and the other I had to break off due to it being stripped. The noise was from the pulley spinning in an ovular fashion, scratching up the cover and widening the holes on the pulley.
