PTE Turbo options, opinions?

Well i hope you guys dont get bent out of shape but im going to ask here as i know alot of evo guys seem to use the precision turbo's.

The car that i am looking to use this on is infact not my evo and its my 98 2.4L Neon. I use this car for the odd street cruiser but its main purpose is fun at the track 1/4 mile, might hit up the road course but id like to do that moreso with the evo (neons are a little cheaper to replace if something happens it to it) lol

I am looking for a new turbo as my current Bullseye power S258 is scrap (in and out shaft play and it even started hitting the comp housing). My current options that have arouse is the pte 5857 dbb cea wheel. 63 ar 3" V band ported S cover brand new for $1000 local. My other option is a PTE 6262 dbb cea wheel. 82 ar 3" V band posrted S cover used 1500 miles $1000 US. My other option would be to buy a new Journal bearing turbo from a vendor for around same price after shipped.

The engine is a 2.4L 9.2:1 compression forged bottom end and its been strapped ( stronger for higher revving engine making higher hp) ported head larger cams, box intake, 60mm throttle body, huge FMIC, tubular t3 manifold, 38mm mvs tial wastegate, 3" dp and e-cutout.

With the S258 i made 471hp 441tq on 26 psi pump gas. Im looking to make similar numbers maybe closer to 5-550 on pump and meth. Which route do you guys think is my better option?

Any help is greatly appreciated and i understand that this is an evo forum.
Any other questions about my setup just ask
Thanks
Jordan

Based on your power goal I suggest the 6262. The 5857 with the .63 housing is a bit small for that power goal, but the 6262 will be just fine.

What are some other turbo options you would suggest? 35r s360, s362, etc. And do you think ball bearing is worth the extra, or journal bearing will be suffice?

Thanks guys

There are alot of turbo options that would make that power, 35r, s362, 6262, The difference in them would be the spool the billet wheel of the 6262 will spool faster than the others and flow the same as a 35r so its pretty much up to you. As far as DBB goes if the car was just a 1/4 car then you can get away with journal bearing but if you plan on road racing and street driving and want the faster spool than DBB is great. I always said to myself i would never get a turbo again if it wasn't DBB just my 02cent

My PTE SC61R BB made 531whp at 31psi on pump/meth on the last owners car. A 2.4L would have no problem spooling it and you can buy it at MAP for $1270.

I was reading over on hondatech about precision turbo issues. But they were saying something about using a second restrictor to restrict pressures to like 22psi.

Any thoughts on those that havecrun prescion turbos, any issues or things i would need to do

There is no need to run an oil restrictor on PTE turbos. The Journal bearing turbo can handle very high pressures. The dbb PTE center housings have the proper orifice built it. Running restrictors will kill turbos. People think that smoking turbos are from too much oil pressure when it is usually PCV related issues. When the people put restrictors are used they dont smoke as much until it explodes.
