Also supposedly Mobil 1 is no longer 100% FULL SYNTHETIC, it's like a hydro-cracked base stock oil and group 3/4 base stock oil or something. Amsoil is I believe group 5 oil? I do know they took out all the good stuff like the zinc and phosporous (good for bearings) as per govt requirement to help lengthen the life of cat converters. For picture proof go on the fp turbo's website (forced performance) and they did a test with a brand new fp black turbo using pure mobil 1 oil and after some dyno pulls they took apart the turbo and found heat damage on the thrust bearing/washer....Why would you want to use that even with a stock turbo when you know it's not good enough for a different style turbo? Everybody says well it says to use mobil 1 on the oil cap and comes in corvettes and many cars from the factory but that's a pretty dumb reason in my book.

Also there are tests from people who sent in there royal purple oil samples and basically the results were that the oil is worn out and did not have much more engine run time left on it.....and it wasn't much run time on it in the first place.....Search if you want proof

Amsoil or Brad Penn only in the evo period
Mobile1 is watered down treehugger approved now....thus sucks!
Some industrial mobile and rotella oil will work tho...but a little harder to source.

There is soo much horse **** in this thread it is unbelievable. FP turbos needed those higher zinc phos levels in thier JB turbos due to the dissimilar metals in their bearing design. Not an issue in your stock turbo or pretty much any other turbo on the market PERIOD.
Again to those who think they are doing their cars a disservice not using Amsoil is just plain ignorance. Sad really
