Shot Starter???

I took my evo out a few hours ago and it started fine (starter has been makeing a little whineing sound on start up lately). Went back out a few minutes and it wouldnt crank over. Battery is brand new and has plenty of voltage but the starter doesnt even click like the battery is low or anything? Is the starter finally shot or could it be a relay? Any ideas thank you

if your battery is still in stock location there are two fuses on the pos cable. check them should be a 60 and 100 amp if i remember correctly...

if they are good. check voltage at the starter... using a multimeter red lead to starter bolt black to frame... make sure its 11.5-13.8 ish...

obviously check all fuses there is a small signal wire that connects to the starter just above the main cable make sure its on an trace it back for a break.

ps. by start bolt i mean the one the pos battery cable connects to...

oh and if you have a friend avail. have them turn the key to start and the post that comes out of the solenoid with a small tether to the actual starter check voltage there as well...

Make sure the battery posts are clean and then grease them.

a failing starter solenoid will go back and forth like that occasionally...

could also be a bad connection like the other guy said...

could be the signal wire on the starter is loose
