i just installed a greddy tybe S today on my evo. it sounds good. it's not as loud as i thought it would be. but i can hear it better than the stock one. my K&N intake should be here next week. maybe it will be louder than. I was wondering if putting the top screw in more it would be louder? i don't know. don't want to mess anything up. first time i put one in.everything run great. i'm happy with it .

The top screw is to adjust the tension in the spring, Hard or Soft, I would do it somewhere in the middle. The Type S will get loud, I have heard a few that are very nice. Get a boost controller (raise the boost), full turbo back exhaust, some cams and the BOV will be loud.

Also, it should get a little louder with the air filter, you will def. here the turbo more, get a boost controller and raise the boost, you'll hear that sucker.

HKS SSQ will cause idle problems and stalling ONLY IF it's done VTA. Same thing goes with ALL VTA BOV's. Nothing we can do about it...some people have said that their car works alright with it that way, but I myself had major stalling issues with it

You can run a VTA with the HKS AFR it has an anit stall controll to keep engine rpms above stalling point.

Thats not solving the idle problem, thats just a band-aiding it. That just like if your car doesn't idle right when its cold you hold down the gas pedal at a steady 1500 so it doesn't stall.

i have the HKS SSBOV.. actually i think it sounds more like a whoosh than a whistle... well mine does at least lol

i have the recirc kit, and i have minor idle problems.. it will stall every once in a while when the idle drops too low.. never a problem anywhere else, but i will be doing the grounding kit soon - from everythign i read, that helps it.

the hks sounds pretty good, but im thinking of something diff.. actually i really like that whistle sound too.. the whoosh is ok.. but ive heard a few higherpitchd whistle sound BOV's.. they sound chill!!

Get the type s and you will have a real cool sound and you won't need the new apexi ground kit anymore, the bov vents 100% back to the intake.

I've used the GReddy Type-S for years and will say it's much more of a woosh than a whistle when recirculated. I'm sure it sounds different vented.
