Had a 6 spring clutch for less than a year. I get the impression it places different forces on engine than standard 4 spring.

The only test I can think of to indicate if the disk has 6 or 4 springs would be to remove the plug, get a flashlight, try to view underneath the pressure plate through whatever gap may be accessible while someone rotates crank 360⁰. You might also be able to view through behind the starter plate. If your lucky you may be able to see the springs. Other than that you might as well have a new clutch ready to change because the tranny is half out to remove the pressure plate.

I do recall the 6 spring plate made a great deal of harmonic vibration when unloaded.

unsprung should rattle a bit during decel. I remember my twin unsprung was like that, (decel growl)

Exactly. A small amount of gear rattle is common for spring center but an unsprung will allow more torsional vibrations to the transmission and you will have more severe gear rattle. In addition to decel rattle, idle gear rattle in neutral (clutch out) should be pretty loud when the transmission oil is warmed up.
