Weird Noise around 30-40 mph Info on car?

Hey guys,
I bought an evo off a auction, previous salvage title and i just started driving today. I'm hearing a grinding humming noise coming from the back of the car at about 30-40mph. It happens when i let go of the gas and its in gear. Best way to describe the sound is like a public bus when its driving beside you, it has that distinct humming grinding sound. That is exactly what it sounds like. I have no idea what it could be.
Maybe someone knows some history on the car too:
VIN # JA3AH86D15U012677
Any Info would be appreciated
thanks

also check your rear end fluid for metal flakes, and check your carrier bearings for the drive shaft.

change your rear diff fluid and see if that helps, it could be also wheel bearings in the rear. hope that helps.

I know this is kinda old but thought I might help out if you still having the issue. Check the rear transmission motor mount bracket. One of the bolts (most likely the bottom one of the two) may be missing. It will cause the motor and trans to shift at a tilted back angle and cause drivetrain noises especially when you are off the gas if the bolts are missing to connect the trans to the rear motor mount bracket.
