I didn't mention anything about ball bearing... The housing probably already has a blocked off water jacket... Even though it might not "need" cooling, it will NEVER hurt longevity to cool the turbo .

I have no idea what a cai is.

No water jacket at all, not blocked, just not there.

Dave I think CAI means "cold air intake". I think he is asking if you can use an aftermarket intake with your kit.

We are using our standard MAS pipe on our car without a BOV return tube in it. We are then just using our open element filter on the end of it.

David,
I have had stages I, II & III for a couple months and
my car is starting to feel slow again.
I am trying to decide which one of your turbos to purchase.
Can you add dyno charts to your website for each turbo?
It would help me make my decision.
I need power but I don't want a lot of lag.
Thanks
Mike

you're going to have to use a silicone reducer or a cai that has a 3" pipe on it for sure, to clear the inlet on the compressor housing.

Turbo kit o2 housing

I am concerned with this turbo kit's o2 housing. Our stock o2 housing uses a donut gasket and some spring bolts. So the downpipe pivots at the o2 housing which gets rid of the need for a flex section in the downpipe. With out this pivot point, all the stress from exhaust movement will get transferred into the o2 housing. Any chance the o2 housing can be made to accept the stock donut gasket and spring bolts?

Marksae,
The downpipes we build now don't use the stock donut gasket, they bolt flat to the stock 02 housing. We didn't see a need to retain that part and most of the other companies building downpipes for the EVO's don't retain it either. We have built well over 400 downpipes since last March when we released them and haven't seen a failure yet.

The turbo kit will NOT work with the stock inlet and airbox. The turbo's have a 3" inlet.

David,

I wasn't saying the downpipe was the part in question.

From a structural standpoint, the stock o2 housing is much stronger vs. a tubular one since it has more material thickness. Without a flex section in the downpipe, the whole exhaust is basically cantilevering off the o2 housing every time you go over a bump. I live in an area w/ really sh!tty roads, so I would be really concerned about the longevity of your o2 housing under my driving conditions.

One fix I can think of is to put a support bracket somewhere that supports the downpipe to the engine block. This should reduce the stress at the o2 housing.

Me too... there just has not been a "kit" yet that has lived up to my expectations... I'm using pump gas DSMs as the "bar". It seems for some reason that there is a yet spoken design element hindering pump gas numbers on the Evo... vs. the "old" DSMs that is.
