Evo been here 1 year, DSM been here 15 years, thats why.
Plus DSM parts are WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Cheaper then Evo parts, so if you bust a DSM part, its not as bad, my guess with the DSM also is the Haltech system as well, that thing was **** on the DSM's.......

...it is a broad question, for a broad reason. Even though the Evo is new to the States, the engine is similar enough to the DSMs for it to be a valid question. Granted, not as similar as most think... I guess for me, it boils down to the fact that all of the reported pump gas numbers out there on the Evo right now, have me dissuaded from purchasing anyones kit at present. Which brings back the question of the upgraded stock turbo (Buschur's). I'm already looking at OE 10.5Ti's as another option in the mean time.

Given that most EVOs are still so new, there aren't too many people out there w/ upgraded turbos that can put out the good #s on pump gas YET. The number of 50-trim or similarly powered DSMs far outnumber the upgraded turbo EVOs at this point. Just give it some time and have some patience. It'll happen.

I am waiting to see 500WHP on Pump gas, and a 3500 or sub spoolup. My guess is that the Evo needs a Bigger TB as the stocker is a little small, and a minor port job to increase the CFM's, that alone will give you what another 40-50WHP if you had a bigger turbo and cams, probably up the RPM limit too.
Would it be possible to build a Motor to hit 9000 RPMS? 9500 RPMS??? Can the bottom end handle this if you completely rebuild the top?

no it cant. 9500 rpm = toooo much money

Making 500 whp is tough on pump gas, the octane just has a hard time supporting the power. Possible, yes, tough, very. Making 500 whp and the spool up you are asking for on race gas isn't unheard of.
I don't know what it going on with the dyno charts and the lag. Very odd thing. I took the EVO for a drive last night to watch the boost gauge and check spool up. With the BR580 on our car, as it was on Mike's. If I am in any gear and push the throttle to the floor the car will make 20 psi by 3800 rpm, from there is is climbing so fast that 30 psi is in by 4,000 rpm.
On our dyno sheets and on other dyno sheets we have seen on the BR580 we notice full boost is happening around 5,000 rpm. It is definetely the way the engine is being loaded differently.
Spool up on the BR580 is for sure, 100% good on the street when tuned right. I don't have any problem with a turbo that makes this much power (548 whp 2wd moon dyno) and can make 20 psi by 3800 rpm.
As for putting an engine together to withstand 9500 rpm. That is no problem at all. Our Stage 3 block will do that, has been for 15 years. The problem you run into is making power there, tuning and the head flow. As for the RPM though, that is not a problem. We have two core blocks here now for building engines or can do one without a core required for more money. Stage 3 shortblock is $3,000.

I see someone came in and cleaned up the BS from this topic, I didn't ask for it to happen but do appreciate it.

I'll consider an updated DP with a bung if I do a turbo upgrade. First I want to get a ride in a well tuned BR440 or BR500 equipped Evo before I make a decision. I'm afraid to give up the stock turbo spool on track days. Nastea is local to me so if I get a chance to meet up with him maybe he'll grant me my wish.

In other words, feel free to run a CAT and have your wide band in the rear O2 bung.... it will work fine

Labor to do the entire job is $1,000. Timing belt kit, fluids, gasket kit, etc. and such are let's guess another $700. No extra charge for putting head studs and such in while it is apart. Some guys are having us pull the a/c and such out too while we are at it, no extra for that. Give us a call and ask for Dan in service to get an idea with all the extra stuff you may or may not want to do.

Don't take this the wrong way, but keep dreaming. It's simple physics (I know I sound like a broken record). If you want sub 3500RPM power and 500whp, buy a 427 LS1. Even if you do a stroker or 2.4L block it's not going to happen.
2.4 and a 2step, I am sure it''l work. GT35R is making that kinda power, and will spool at 3500 on a 2.4, the dream will be a reality, you watch.
YES I KNOW I AM REPLYING TO A STATEMENT 6 MONTHS OLD!
Thank You
