Oil pressure light comes on, pressure gauge reads fine?

I've got a 2.4 LR that I just did a clutch on. the engine's got about 2K mles (long story on the clutch) Oil pressure has never been a problem, It hangs out about 20 PSI at idle, rising to 90 by about 2800 RPM. In my opinion that seems like way too much oil pressure at such a low RPM, but it's much better than the alternative.

Anyway, I went for a test drive this morning and the oil light started flickering on, and sometimes staying on for a while. The oil pressure, from the gauge located in the filter housing read like normal.is it possible something is blocking an oil galley or something? Or is it possible my sender is just bad? Is there a way I can check?

Try a new sender - a cheap way to find out.

On my 2.4L the oil PSI at idle (850rpm) is ~20psi. Reading is of the oil filter housing. This is using an auto meter electric oil pressure gauge with a brand new sending unit.

My problem turned out to be that I somehow broke the tab on the sender that plugs into the wiring harness. Autozone old me a whole new sender for 7 dollars, but rather than replacing the sender and getting oil on my hands, I just unscrewed the broken tab and put the one from the new sender on in it's place. I'm happy to report that I panicked for nothing.
