Boost controller Thread MBC vs AEM Mac valve

I have a choice, not sure what to go with as I want the best response.

Rumor has it that using a manual MBC is better than any electronic controlled solenoid or mac valve.

My question is, How much response would one lose going from a Hallman MBC to an AEM controlled mac valve for boost?

hallman is very effective and works great. mac valve is the best for solenoids, but you need a great tuner to get it dialed in 100%. if you have a great tuner and need to change boost for dual maps, go with the mac. if you just run one boost level, get the hallman. if there was a 50rpm spool difference, i would be shocked.

A solenoid ran off the ecu is a much better method of controlling boost. Not being affected by changes in the weather and things like boost per gear are just a few of the benefits.

I was using the AEM TruBoost, it is a pain to go through all the settings, and the solenoid is known for failing, $90 to replace. I went with the Halman, much better.

I vote you run both. Hybrid boost is the best of both worlds.

How does this work?

Use the electronic valve to bypass the MBC and run the car on wastegate and have the aem open the valve when I want full boost using the hallman?

You run them in series. The MBC is used to help spool the turbo while the EBC holds it till redline. You don't setup the MBC to hit your desired boost level though. That is done using the EBC. You just turn the MBC in a few turns to help with spool. TSCOMPUSA (Tom) has tuned quite a few cars using it. You setup it up like this:

If you are not tuning your own car you better check with tuner some shops dont tune ebc for whatever reasons but when setup correct thats what i perfer coming from fwd cars boost control is key.
