Transfer case fluid leak

Hey guys,

i noticed that there was a few drips on the garage floor and it smelled like transmission fluid.

so i crawled underneath the car and found that theres a very slow drip coming from the back of the transfer case where it connects to the driveshaft. has anyone ever had this problem before?

here are some pictures of it.

picture is kinda hard to tell...but the black oily stuff is transmission fluid.

has anyone ever replaced seal #2 on this diagram because of this?

any input is appreciated.

Free bump for you... I noticed this on my car too. From what I've seen I guess it's the seal/o ring thing. Hopefully I didn't catch it too late and my case isn't shot.

Get that seal fixed quick before you loose all your gear oil and destroy your transfer case.

Yes I replaced that seal for that leak on my evo, took care of it for me. Did it on a lift, but was only a 10 min job.

When you guys replaced the seal, did you have to remove the the "1. Dust Seal guide" also for easy access to the seal? Did you guys drain your t-case fluid also before doing it?

Note there is also one small oring gasket not shown in your illustration that goes right on the bracket. It's two bucks on stm motorsports.
