Best Place to Buy 1st gen 4G63
Hey,
Used to run a built Evo X MR. In the process of sourcing parts to build an RCR Razor (http://superlitecars.com/razor/gallery-razor/). Driving a Touareg now and cant justify another all around car with "some" performance - need something that is going to rip my face off.
I'm looking to run a slightly built 4G63 in the car - really don't need more than 350bhp in the car to run 0-60 in under 3 on slicks - just over 3 on street rubber.
I'm looking to purchase a motor and trans and then convert the trans from AWD to FWD - there are a few companies able to accommodate that portion without issue. My biggest concern is just getting a solid motor. I'd rather not have to pick up a block and build it myself - trying to find a motor with low kms and basically stock.
Anyone in eastern US or Canada with a good rep?

350bhp will get you about 4 second 0-60.

in how heavy car...?
now that i think more about it he will probably need even more power for 4 flat.
i was just trying to let the OP know that 350bhp will not get him a 3 second 0-60 time.he will need over 400bhp for sure.

I love it, the armchair racing has begun - everyone has an opinion.
Whether my goals are loft or not - the same question from the original post still stands.
The car should be under 1600lbs, hoping closer to 1500lbs

If you don't want to build the 6 bolt yourself just hit up JAM (Jackson Auto Machine), Ostar Motorsports, or the like to build you a 6 bolt. Really @ 350 whp you don't need to build anything at all, the stock block is good for 450+ with good tuning. Just pick up a 6 bolt out of a 1st gen, check things out and have a competent machine shop freshen it up with stock internals.
EVO III 16G, 550 injectors, and tuning and away you go. Not sure why you'd go FWD on that platform, I'd go AWD or RWD and call it a day. But either way it'll be a fun car :-)

It is going RWD. But it's a rear mounted motor and trans set up. To keep everything a neat package utilizing an FWD set up and mounting it in the back saves space.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give them a shout.

Magnus Motorsports is one of the best engine builders around and is in Toronto area. Your best bet by far if your buying in Canada.
If you're looking closer to the west coast, English Motorsports is not far from you and has lots of high end DSM experience. Can't go wrong there, either.
