I have been searching and haven't come across anything helpful yet. I installed a weapon R catch can a while ago and noticed that my PCV valve keeps blowing out. Is there a simple fix to this? Any help is greatly appreciated!

What do you mean blowing out ? If its threaded! I have the same catch can and it works perfect, I blame it on the installer.

 

No the pcv valve just slips into the back of the valve cover. It blows out when I boost it.

 

Can you post a picture of the setup? If it is blowing out then it would suggest too much positive crankcase pressure.

 

The left one is the stock pcv and its threaded, I dont know what type of pcv you have.

That's what I have. Upon closer look it seems that it slides in and out freely (that's what she said) so maybe I just need a new grommet?

 

Yes, the heat over time will harden/shrink rubber grommets.

Could you expand on how exactly your catch-can is plumbed in?

The catch can was plumbed correctly the opening on the left went to the intake and the opening on the right went to the valve cover. If I recall correctly, I looked it up before I did it. Thanks guys!

 

Ok, that's right.
By adding this catch-can there is now added restriction somewhere, resulting in higher than normal crankcase pressures. Make sure there are no kinks/tight bends in the hoses you installed.

Reread post #7 the threaded valve is stock if you have a push in valve and a grommet something is wrong.

 

As far as the pcv blowing out, are you talking about the WHOLE piece including the elbow that the pcv part screws into, because that elbow does slide in and out of the vlalve cover (stock) as you can buy -an fitting replacements for that and the other piece on the trans side of the valve cover from STM. Also, I'm not familiar with the weapon catch can but is it a directional catch can that has to be installed a certain way because of restriction? Might want to research how to install again. What is your setup? Do you have a built motor, which for that type of setup, a bunch of peps, including myself, run a VTA (vent to atmospere or breather) catch can setup to resolve positive crank preasure issues (I have an Allstar breather catch can).

 

which cars came threaded and which came push in?

 

Took a good look at mine today and it's an aluminum bushing pressed into the valve cover with an elbow pressed into it and the PCV valve threaded into that. No rubber grommet no way for the PCV to pop out.
