Anybody Gut The Stock Converter

Anybody gut the stock catalytic converter? I want to do mine, but I'm wondering if someone has come up with a way to loop the O2 sensor to avoid check engine problems. I know alot of vendors sell the off road pipe and hight flow converter, and sell the O2 sensor loop plug. I'm wondering if anyone has made a loop plug and if so how to wire it. If not maybe I will be the test Monkey if anyone has any feedback it would be greatly appreciated.

Its not worth gutting the stock cat. you may remove a restriction but you are adding turbulance to the exhaust which may slow the exhaust down more than the cat did. you can find a cat delete for next to nothing or just have one made by your local muffler shop.

I had a O2 CEL fix for my WRX from PONYEXPRESS but I don't know if they will work for EVO. Give them a call if you insist on gutting it but I'd think twice about doing it as I am sure that cat costs a ton. And who knows if they'll sniff test the AWD car in the future.

Thanks for the input guys, I think I'll just have the local muffler shop make me up bypass pipe to bolt up, and I can always put back the CAT if I ever need it. Thanks for the sudjestion. Evo RL do you have that number to ponyexpress, I'm still going to need that O2 loop plug.

not sure if it was mentioned already but one trick that was used before was to wrap the o2 in tin foil to avoid codes.... not sure if it would work on the evo
