Evo IX strange grinding noise on startup, vid included

After driving in stormy weather this strange grinding noise started happening on cold starts but at warm temps oil 60-70c, it makes no noise??? im about to have to drive across the country and goin in about a week (moving)





any ideas??? 53k miles, 375whp, 352wtq

That is what it sounds like to me too. It sounds like it might be shorting out. Check the cover around the starter and make sure no nuts or bolts are shorting it against this cover.

when you pop the hood it sounds more like around the bottom to the trans posibly the clutch? it has a alot of chatter in the throw out bearing

your throw out bearing could be bad, how long have you had the clutch for?

that clutch may be the culprit!!! 6 puck is very harsh on the trans especially if you have been launching the car. i would say your car is fine to drive cross country, the sound is increased clutch chatter from the 6 puck. i would personally change the clutch to a single disc.

Sounds like the Bindix is sticking on the starter to me.

been thinkin that about the act as well but no i dont launch the car only have couple times at the track and on the street but i was spinning the wheel in 2nd when this happnd lol
