Torn Between Turbos :(. Please Advise...
Here's what i want, i need something with a quick spool as the Evo IX turbo but doesn't tap out up top...
I'm on the edge about these 3 turbos at the moment, but i'm not 100% sure what will suit me for my use of the car.
1. 73HTA
2. BBK FULL PORTED
3. MAP EF2
This isn't my first rodeo with the evo, but it will be my Last. I've searched over and over and over again on this forum trying to find the answers i need but i can't seem to put down the final answer... Please help
Here's what I'm Stuck with at the Moment:
2004 Evo 8 SSL 120,XXX
Factory 2.0L Block (10w-30 Z-Rod)
Factory Transfer Case (Diaqueen)
Factory Rear Differential (Diaqueen)
Factory Evo VIII Head with (Kelford 272 i/e & Supertech Valve springs/retainers)
Shep 5 Speed (Redline MT90)
Exedy HD Twin Disc (STM Clutch Fork Stop)
ARP L19 H11 Studs
Sparktech COP (NGK BPR8ES)
ETS 3.5" Intercooler
ETS LICP
ETS UICP with Tial Q BOV
Speed Density
Grimspeed ECU Controled Boost Controller
ETS T3 GT3586R Dual Ball Bearing w/ Tial 38mm WG
JMF "Drag" Intake Manifold
Buschur Double Pumper
PTE 1000cc Injectors
Everything in BOLD is what is staying on it, Everything UNDERLINED is being taken off.
This is what the Underlined is being Replaced with
Turbo = ? ? ?
Intake Manifold = Factory (non ported)
Fuel Pump = Stock Fuel Pump Assembly w/ a single Walbro 255
Injectors = FIC 1100 High Impedance Injectors
Fuel Rail = FIC Fuel Rail
Fuel Pressure Regulator = AEM Fuel Pressure Regulator
Turbo Manifold = OEM Ported
Downpipe = Map 02 Dump.
Use: Daily Driver, Vacation taker... etc. Possibly a few time laps on track day.
Not used for: 1/4 or 1/8 Dragstrip. Autocross.
Idea: I don't Want nor Need 500-1000hp, I'd like to get about 400whp/380ft-lbs tq
I'm staying with Pump 93 Octane. I won't be doing E85 for the Location of E85 in my area is far and few.
Thanks in Advance for any Good Advice is Greatly Appreciated.
Please keep bashing and hatred to a minimal.

BBK Full will outspool a green. Green will have more top end than the BBK. EF2 I just don't like that much, seems a bit el cheapo but pulls decent numbers I guess, just don't know about long term use.

Any of the above turbos would be perfect for a stock block setup. All of them are so close it's tough to decide. All are small enough wheels that the factory-style turbo center-section/bearing setup is used and they just seem to last forever.
I put 20k miles (@30psi) on my BBK and mrfred is still rocking it making fantastic power, it's hard for me not to recommend that thing as it is just a champ!
I've seen great numbers and reliability out of one local particular FP HTAGreen (73HTA) but not sure what others experience has been.
Lots of guys running EF2's around here now and they are making fantastic power too and they seem just as tough.
Good luck in your decision!
