Just curious to see what other people are making on the 2.4 with a oem 100mm crank and for how long.
Thanks

Ya MAP at 1053whp. Aaron mentioned something to me about them seeing OEM 100mm cranks having some cracking issues past 550wtq. I have an OEM 100mm crank in my car right now at just over 600wtq.

A lot of cracking with high rpm/tq on the stock unit.

Go aftermarket.. and leave your woes behind.

I think the OEM crank is prone to cracking on the #4 journal. Some mechanics i have spoken too say it will happen over time with any horsepower level beyond stock.

600tq OEM crank here. 9000rpm burn outs at the track. No problem so far.

i have a 100mm OEM unit in my garage in two pieces.if you plan on high revs or high power on a 100mm crank you should go billet.the roll cut journals with almost no overlap is a bad combo for high power or revs imo.

i don't think it's just the 2.4 though,i think it applies to the 2.3 as well.mine cracked in a 2.3 that was making 700whp.it actually held up fine in the low 500whp range on pump gas,but as soon as the E85 was introduced and the power went up it broke.it made it 7,500 miles on pump gas and 24psi and about 75 miles on E85 and 30psi.

Buy a good crank dampener and go. Fluidamper or ATi and don't do a ton of launches and you will be ok. It is a pain in the *** if you break a crank. I have friends who have broken multiple cranks in under 100 Miles and I have driven thousands of Miles on multiple 100mm cranks and never broke one. Some have been up close to 700whp and lasted.

I made 830+ revving to 8800 and 630 ft lbs and I havent personally broke a crankshaft. The 2 that we have seen out of the bunch we have done were as far apart as you can get though. A standard rod HTA Green 2.4 making 530/530 and a LR2.4 3794 car making 686/477 on E85. The 3794 car actually broke it on pump only making 606/430.

It is cheap insurance (relatively speaking) to put a crankshaft in it if you plan to make big power at high revs.

Aaron

Just spend the 600 and get a Forged Crank from Manley and not worry about it.

Mikeys car here is making about 775 hp on his English Racing LR 2.4, and so far so good... my buddy had one on a 35R and making around 550 and snapped the crank on the #4 counterweight... Mine is a standard 2.4L and I have had no issues on the OEM crank...

Quick Reply: What is the most whp made on a 2.4L with 100mm crank?
