ACT XTSS vs XTSD
Just wondering what your guys experiences are with these clutches? I'm getting my clutch changed in a month and will be getting one of the two. The car will be mainly daily driven with the occasional launch. I'm also looking to do my first real track day sometime soon. My current mods are a turboback exhaust with a custom o2 dump, aem intake, mini battery, ets short route uicp, ets v1 licp, synapse dv with the mil.spec spring, ets 3"intercooler (ets core), gsc beehive springs, gsc s2 cams and the evo 8 10.5 turbo. As far as I know everything else is stock. I will be using a no-name lightweight flywheel along with whichever clutch I decide on. Thanks for the help guys!

The XTSD has a solid center disc which will experience more rapid wear on the disc splines due to the severe torsional vibrations of a turbo 4 cylinder engine. On a N/A V8, the splines wouldn't be much of an issue, but on an EVO, you are asking for trouble as a daily driver. You are better off with the SS kit.

I've had the XTSS for about 2 years now and it's been great! I don't drive very far to work so I've only put about 10K on it but I've ran it down the 1/4 at least 2-3 dozen times and never had a single issue with lockout.

My car (03 Stroker BT set-up) also equipped with the XTSS Kit on their Lightweight billet flywheel. Marginal chatter, Good smooth engagement, Clutch was installed by previous owner w/ a fresh disc & has approx 1600 miles on it. Car is also pushing well over 400WHP on an HTA3586, zero signs of slippage or strain. Ive had good success with ACT clutches in the past 15 years on various other chassis including older DSM's. There are many clutch manufacturers, Ive used them all I believe, comes down to price point & Tq capacity as well as driving civility, biased by customer reviews. Best tech support, warranty (Yes, warranty claims) I've ever received was from South Bend. - Good Luck, can't go wrong with ACT tho, its proven.

The clutch will not be selective on what gear to lockout. First try adjusting the pedal for more air gap (higher engagement point). If that doesn't give any improvement, then it is probably not related to the clutch.

Actual mileage will vary so much that there is no way to guess. I have seen as low as only a few thousand miles with the solid disc. It depends a lot on how the engine is set up since it will change the torsional vibrations. But the difference will be a factor of at least twice as many miles using a spring center disc.
