so, unfortunately my timing belt skipped and the valves kissed the pistons, requiring me to pull the head, here are some pics of the pistons, do you think that the damage is significant enough to warrant replacement

Your best beat is to go to mitsu dealerships and to talk to them. I am sure that they will give you a BS and not fix it but it doesn't hurt to try. Good luck

Hes not asking about getting the car fixed under warranty. He wants to know if the pistons need to be replaced.

My guess is the car is long out of warranty, plus it has head studs, and he already pulled the head himself. Mitsu would laugh at him

Fix the valves and put it back together.. I have seen pistons with far more damage than that and still used with no problems.

yea my pistons looked way worse when i jumped time, i had to get new valves and stuff, and i re used my pistons. Yours looked great compared to mine, your good.

those are not too bad of marks left on the tops. like said, if no cracks or anything most likely the bottom end is fine. i would recommend inspecting and/or replacing the valves, but chances are they are probably fine with how light those marks appear. better safe than sorry.

From the looks of the valves you wouldn't believe thats the only damage to the pistons...ever seen all the intake valves snap off? It's a daily driver....higher HP goals of 400-500 w/a gt3071r and other supporting mods.....def not going to the dealer....that would be pointless
