Pictures and info on Mishimoto MMRAD-EVO-01 radiator

I'm ordering my Evo 6 Mishimoto radiator this week based on your review. I'm getting the Mishimoto Evo 6 upper radiator hose.
On my 1/2 Koyo radiator I just used a straight hose from Gates. Made it impossible to get on with radiator or Tstat housing in place due to the thickness of the Gates hose. I had to lift radiator up and slide hose on as I lowered the radiator. Not a fan.
Also getting my tstat housing tapped. Thanks for the great write ups.
I saw your car on 34 last month getting on it from a stop. I was in the BBY with the cutout.

I've now done four full track days with my car (two tracks: High Plains Raceway, Deer Trail, CO; and Pueblo Motorsports Park, Pueblo, CO) and my Mishimoto radiator (MMRAD-EVO-01) has been issue-free. I've put several thousand miles on the car—it's still a "street car"; I drive it to and from race events—and it has close to 500 miles of beating on it mercilessly on the road course too.
Out on track (road course), during a 15 to 25 minute session, temps are MUCH HIGHER... I've read here on evom from other track guys that their temps "never go over 100C/212F" no matter how long they beat on their Evo on track, but I've seen a max temp of 218 degrees. This was on a day when the air temps were right at 100 degrees, and my Evo was running about 25 psi that day—about 470 whp at that boost/air temps. I was running water only in the cooling system. It's important to remember that as engine output goes up substantially, so does the waste heat it creates. I am also still running the OEM oil cooler—pretty sure that if I had a larger, aftermarket oil cooler that would bring my oil temps down, that would help reduce coolant temps as well.
However, as soon as I back off and do a cooldown lap at 60% or so, the coolant temps drop to 205-210, or basically "normal" again.

There were guys racing at High Plains Raceway that weekend from outside of Colorado, who had never raced at elevation before, and were having all sorts of issues with overheating—even though they've never had problems with overheating at their home tracks at lower elevation.
I just recently ran a full NASA race weekend at Motorsports Park Hastings (MPH) in Hastings, NE, which is at a substantially lower elevation of only 1,900 feet—still a huge difference from sea level, or within 500 feet of sea level—and my max coolant temp for the entire weekend was only 213 degrees. I only saw that peak temp during the hottest part of the day on Sunday, when air temps were in the high 80s; for the rest of my racing sessions the rest of the weekend, coolant temps never exceeded 208.
I'd like to go on record as saying that MPH is a frickin' great track, BTW. If you're within a 12-hour drive of this road course, I HIGHLY recommend you consider making the trip out to drive it.
It is a unique track that is relatively easy on brakes, and my peak speed was only 130 mph; but the corners are set up in such a way that they feel extremely fast as you try to carry maximum speed through them, and most of the "in-field" corners are linked, so that when you get consecutive corners right, you feel like you're doing 100 mph through them instead of 75 mph, and it's extremely satisfying to boot.

To help the OP. I just recently replaced my OEM radiator with Mishimoto. The clearance for the OEM fan/fan shroud is tight. The fan shroud touches the turbo because the mounting points for the OEM fan is either long or OEM fan shroud's mounting point is spaced out.

I just wanted to chime in on the Mishi Warranty....
Pat at Mishimoto took care of me right away. He sent me a replacement radiator right away after i filled out their warranty form. No questions asked, but how you broke it!
Great Customer Service!

Evo 4/5/6 radiator

Or the
Evo 7/8/9 radiator:
http://www.mishimoto.com/mitsubishi-...diator-01.html
Looking at the specs it seems the 4/5/6 (2.55") is slightly thicker than the 7/8/9 (2.47") by 0.08 (more than 1/16" less than 1/8"). Which brings the radiator slightly closer to the turbo.
I wish Mishimoto made the 7/8/9 radiator with the top inlet moved to be inline with the tstat housing.
