Problem with swapping OEM fuel pump with Walbro 255
First, sorry moderators if this isn't in the proper forum. Please leave it here long enough for me to get my info.
I swapping out my stock fuel pump with a Walbro 255. No problems until I am ready to put the new pump in place in the white plastic assembly. The OEM one has a little filter "baggy" attached to the bottom of it. My replacement doesn't. I noticed other 255s came with a "kit" that had the little filter. Am I supposed to pry the tea-bag looking filter off my OEM pump and put it on the Walbro? How???

Pop the retaining clamp off the stock filter and attach the whole filter unit to the Walbro. Vishnu should have shipped the whole kit like everyone else... I dont have any idea why they didnt. Mine could have used a knew filter too...!

****, that sucks. It wasn't much fun getting that assembly out of the space provided. Suppose I'll reinstall the OEM and do it again when I get the "kit."
BTW, I didn't get it from Vishnu: I got it from RRE here in SoCal.
I'm kind of afraid to pop off the clamp on the oem, if it breaks, I don't want to have to reinstall the whole thing twice.

PS: If you somehow managed to F up the stock strainer when you take it off (don't see how you could...but anything is possible) just run without it until you can get the instal kit. With so few miles on the car there hasn't been time for any real "crud" to build up in the tank, so you would be fine temporarily running wihtout the strainer.

Use a pick and work the OE clip off... reused the strainer and clip... I used a 6 or 7mm socket to flatten the clip a little to give it more bite. I've had the pump in and out twice and all on the OE strainer/clip with no worries. By the way, I was using the Walbro 342 for the Acura Integra... fits like a charm. For those who care, it can be found much cheaper than a Walbro "Evo pump" (same thing).

We never use the Walrbo supplied sock either...9 times out of 10 just reuse the OEM one after generously cleaning it with brake cleaner. Saves guys the pirce of having to buy the "install kit"
