What is the best BOV to get?

What is the best blowoff valve performance wise for the EVO VIII? The louder the better too.
What type of boost controller is best as well?

The best in performance is usually not the the loudest!
Synapse is an excellent BOV
The stock metal bov in actually very good performance wise, but no sounds :]
Tomei offers a modified stock bov, equipped with a stiffer spring
HKS has that distinct tsssss sound
I personally like the sounds of the forge vented bov

Boost control:
EBC:
HKS, Greddy, Apexi, Blitz, turbosmart.... all offer good EBCs
MBC:
Turbosmart, Hallman, Grimmspeed, Perrin, Buschur, Forge... all are good (search for a thread comparing various MBCs)
ECU:
Get a 3-port boost solenoid & control boost through the stock ECU

if you have open air filter you will hear woosh sound from evo 9 metal bov,but if you looking for chirrrrr sound probably go with what others suggested.as about mbc i would go with grim speed 3 port.the piece look neat, solid ,$20 more then hollman comes with mounting bracket and vacuum lines.

I was looking into this also but decided not to buy a new one, ended up crushing the stock metal recirculating valve at the tune shop.

Since you have a evo 8, i would get a stock evo 9 bov and a open air filter, and it will sound real good. If you want a "louder" (rice) sound, go with a hks.

+1 Stock 9 DV. With an open filter you can hear it well enough. At lower to mid 20 psi, it will hold fine.

Louder the better? Man, the evo's really have come down in price haven't they?

I guess it's hard to express tone through text, but the "louder the better" was a joke.
Thanks for all of the good input on what to get!
I currently have a stock EVO 9 BOV, but it doesn't have one strong pssh, it flutters and my mechanic told me that it's putting strain on the bearings in the turbo.
I'm just glad to have my EVO back, it was MIA since November.
