Vertical FMIC

Gentlemen,

looking for a vertically *mounted* intercooler (Lanca Delta Integrale style) to have an extremely short path from a throttle body to FMIC. Know they do exist. Is anybody aware of a company selling them or are they 100% custom made? Like the guys is selling here:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sa...tor-setup.html

Thanks!

Anton

Full Race used to make them. I have one that was made before they had supply porblems with their cores. It is of a design that allows the LICP to be about 6 inches long. It does use the stock UICP. My spool up was improved even as compared to a normal (short) aftermarket LICP.

CBRD had some made for clients and for their time attack car that looks pretty cool as well. I'd give them a shout.

There is a lot of give and take with vertical ICs. For me it has been very solid and the tradeoffs have been well worth the compromises.

Good luck.

Chad- Why do you prefer horizontal flow? I'm guessing that the air has to travel a greater distance which improves cooling potential?

In terms of pros vs cons of a vertical flow intercooler the main advantage is shorter piping which improves spool.

Assuming you have two cores of equal dimensions and all else is held constant which one will keep the temps lower? Also which core will be more resistant to heat soak?
