HKS 272 cams CEL!!!
#16
i have the 272 combo installed and am definitely getting CEL's. i am getting misfire in cylinder 1 mainly. i also have another friend with the 264/272 combo getting the same CEL's as me. i generally get the CEL after idling for a long time. fwiw, me and my friend go to different tuners. i am using the e-manage, and he is using the s-afc.

I've had a few CELs since putting in the HKS 264/272 combo.
Most of them I attributed to boost cut, unrelated to the cams -- those apparently cleared up when I got reflashed to raise the boost cut threshold.
The only one I've gotten since the reflash (over about a one month period) was the P0300 random misfire, which happened once, two days ago.

I don't have the 272/272 but I do have the 264/264 with a BR 3" turbo back. I generated a CEL this past weekend. I was low on gas so I filled up my tank and afterwards I made sure I tightened the gas cap until it clicked. The CEL went away. I haven't pulled the code yet to verify that it was the gas cap.
Just something to consider.

I agree with 4G63>OOOO, richening up the bottom end of the fuel curve seems to help.
Also I found that with the stock BOV and an AEM intake it seems to cause some idle/stalling problems I'm guessing due to low vacuum. That may also be a problem source for a CEL since the engine did seem to stumble alot like that. Once I put my FORGE DV back in idle is rock solid at 800-900 rpm.
I can anyone else confirm if they have a problem with the stock BOV and 272/272 cams?

i have no problem with hks 272/272 using stock bov and speed-source intake.
my mistake, i should not tell about the CEL for the cams, because i took off the stock ECM already. i totally forgot about that.

OK, here is an experienced opinion... for those having idle, stumbling, stalling issues with your 272's... put your OE MAF pipe back on. 272's on OE cam gears with an OE flash, idle ok with the OE MAF pipe... and idle really damn well with a little tuning on the OE MAF pipe. Without going into detail, the OE "corrugated" MAF pipe helps keep intake reversion from affecting the MAF signal where a nice flowing aftermarket smooth one doesn't... which can cause many of the problems in your complaints. Of course the aftermarket pipes "make power", and can be "tuned around", but don't take my word for it... try it!
