Piston Slap????!!!!!!

I had piston slap no my WRX, it and wasn't that bad... went away after being warmed up. I've seen Subaru warranty these quite often. There were a couple of cases of a bad timing belt tensioner that made the noise to sound like piston slap, replace the tensioner and the noise was gone. I do have some noise in my Evo during idle, I can't pinpoint where it's coming from, but it doesn't sound like piston slap to me. Bring it to the dealer see what they come up with.

My car has mild piston slap. I can hear it even when it is fully warmed up. It is not very loud, but is there nonetheless. Is a little slap normal with the 4g63's? Oh, and please don't participate in the poll if you don't know what piston slap is, or if you have it.

I know you don't want to hear it but I highly doubt it is piston slap. An I know piston slap too since I had an LT1 Camaro and worked at a Chevy dealer. Have you stethoscoped the motor to find the exact location of the noise? It's hard to get piston slap in 4 cylinder motors, especially after warm up. If you have noise after warm up, you have big problems. It could be anything from the TO bearing to a tensioner but I seriously doubt it's actual piston slap. Piston pin noise is much more likely.
Take it to the dealer but I think you won't be happy with thier response. I think they will blow you off.

if i don't have a girlfriend, once in a while i'll slap my piston. but only if i'm really bored.
but in my car with the 272's and the chatter from my clutch, i probably couldn't hear my piston slap even if it were busting through the top of the engine.

As for your other responses, I'll go to the dealer and see what they say.
