Shifter Cable Problem 6 Speed
Hi!
I wanted to know if the shifter cable can go bad..
i have a evo ix mr , so its a 6 speed.
all my front gears don't always go in friendly.
for example i try to go to 1st and instead of going into gear.
the Shift just moves forward and feels spongy and wont get into gear , like nothing is there.
i have to place the gear in 2nd move the car a little bit forward and quickly move it to 1st so it can get.
same thing for 3rd and 5th , they all feel spongy like if the shifter cable its weak or i don't know
i bout some Buschur racing under hood bushing and shifter base bushing thinking it was a bad bushing
I did notice better shifting , but i still have that spongy feeling on 1st 3rd and 5th
don't know whats the deal here with this one

Thanks for the tip , but the adjustment is for left and right movement i believe , if it was adjustment problem it would be if you had problems going into reverse , because that is what happened to me ..
but who knows
I will try to get a video of the problem

Anyone got insight on this?
Right now i am going to say is the shifter cable since there is extra play with the cable that cant be adjusted and the extra play on the shifter base side is not moving nothing on under hood side...
once i get and install the shifter cables i will let know the results for anyone who has this same problem..

I changed my 6speed cables , you have to remove the center console to detach the cables from the shifter base ,then detach the under hood bushings to detach the cables
Only tricky part is removing and putting the new cables thru the firewall

Does this also happened when engine off? I have problem getting to reverse when engine on, but fine when off. Also I have to put to third gear (that follows a judder noise feel like its straighten on an off alignment) so that I can easily shift to reverse gear.
