I installed a 5 speed shifter bracket and cables, put on the console and it looks like some trimming is needed. Whoever has done this swap did you change the console or did you trim it?

The top of shifter bracket hits the bottom of the console where the shifter boot sits

I used my MR console and did not have to do any trimming for my swap. But then again I do remember someone talking about needing trimming when i was researching the swap. I upgraded the shifter base bushings before though, so maybe that makes the difference. You using the stock bushings?

Yea the bushings are oem, shifter and underhood. Maybe the shifter box sits lower with aftermarket ones. How well does your console sit, does it pop out under hard shifts?

I have no problems under hard shifting. I would bet it has to do with the aftermarket shifter bushings making the shifter box sit lower. They do not cost much, try some out and see if that's a fix.
