That is ALOT of work. Had no idea it was so complicated. I actually need to change the clutch on my car and was wondering how everything works. Looks like I will be going to a shop to get that done.

Great video. I was driving my Evo around 30 minutes ago for the first time after replacing my clutch. So, having you show all those hard to reach bolts put a grin on my face.
When my throwout bearing wouldn't release I popped the wave clip instead. Same result.
After putting that little 0-ring in the place on the tc I found it in the oil dry under the car. So, I glued it in place.
I also made myself a gotcha. For some stupid reason I ended up removing four bolts from the rear mount. Two were gold and two were green, same size and thread and maybe an 1/8th inch difference in length. They looked interchangeable to me. They are not! I had pulled the speed sensor and with one of the bolts in the wrong place the speed sensor could not be reinstalled. I burned 2 hours figuring this out and another hour fixing it.
Anyway, I'm 67 and I did this job by myself. I feel like I have been doing aerobics all day - should sleep good tonight. The car drives perfect. I stink of gear oil.

Great job just did my 5th evo clutch last night. It's pretty straight forward exept for that reinstallation bit. I may try an engine hoist next time that way I can have it rolled back to clear the subframe.

Just drop the subframe, I know it's counter-intuitive, but the amount of time you spend dropping the subframe actually pales in comparison to the time spent trying to finesse the trans out past it. At least in my experience it does and off topic Barnyb r u really in your 60's and not jus driving an evo but still working on it yourself. If you are u r my new hero haha.

I was thinking of dropping the subframe. I put my mighty airwrench on the driver's side nut on the subframe and my mighty wrench tucked it's tail and ran.
So, here's what I did. First, I took a dremel to the long studs on the end of the transmission and made them much shorter. Then I pulled the control housing. Then I dropped the engine as much as I could (I was using an engine hanger and a hoist for the tranny) and finally I put the scissor jack that came with the car between the block and the subframe in front of the transfer case and moved the engine to the front about an inch. With that the install was pretty easy.
