anyone usin Tomei 270 with 11.5mm lift

Thinking about switching both my Evo out to these but it seems like AWDMotorsports seems the only one that has tested these.

Not much info on the VIII.

Or should I just jump to s2r?

Are these the poncams or the procams?

No clue I'm confused some sites list the pon ashaving 10.2mm lift

Others as 11.5mm but don't need solid lifters so this confuses me a little

The 11.5mm lift are Procams. They have sets for both solid and hydraulic lifters. I have a brand new set of these that I'm installing soon. I loved my Revolver cams but want something with slightly more duration without losing anything down low.

Are springs a must for these? Even for a 7500 rpm redline?

you could probably get away with them but why risk valve float. your on the edge with an 11.5mm lift and could experience valve float. a cheap set of manleys would work i think i got mine for like 250 with the locks springs and ti retainers or you could just buy the springs for 100

EDIT: just realized i wrote 11.5... i would say yes you would need them and i would go with something better then the manleys like some gsc springs and retainers

http://www.streettunedmotorsports.co..._4g63_cams.htm according to this any procam model will require an upgraded valve spring and retainer. the 270s and the 280s have the same 11.5mm lift. why not just go with some gsc s2 or s3 cams. what setup are you getting cams for anyway? is it a dedicated drag car, autocross or daily?

also if your really pointed into the direction of only getting tomeis you should give amsperformance a call and ask them about them. pretty sure they ran tomeis in there old drag car and know a thing or two about them

lol I was waiting for the why not go S2/S3's comments.

The tomei site spells it all out. Poncams are drop in and have 10.7mm IN 10.2mm EX lift. The 11.5mm lift procams require springs, says "Requires Tomei Valve Springs" right there on the cams page against the 11.5mm lift cams.
