evo 8 hood vent shield removal
i was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts about removing the inner shield to expose the engine? i know theres no gain by doing this, but the flat black finish is starting to look horrible.

ok I removed this thinkin it would perhaps aide in cooling... dont really know... but I think I will be putting it back in because of the rain in socal right now...
it is very easy to remove, and if it looks like crap unclip it and clean it and put it back... cleaning it is very easy and actually turns out quite well...

the hood vent was actually designed to aide in removale of heat by incomming air flowing in below the hood in front and out through the vent... i believe Evolution Imports has an awsome picture of some air flowing characteristics...

Removing it more than likely does hurt cooling as it is an extraction vent. I still removed mine though. I keep it in the trunk and put it back in if I hit bad weather.

Mine has been out since last summer w/o problems. Looks much better. I live where it seldom rains, so it's fine for me. In wet/snowy areas of the U.S., I would probably leave it in.

If anyone has one laying around, I just got my Evo and would like one for mine. I live in Michigan, so I think it should be there... Pm me with a shipped to 49080 price please.
