71hta question ..

Did anyone buy it new from fp with the 9.0 housing like mentioned on their webpage? In have a 10.5 and I wanted to get a good idea of torque from a dyno graph and not speculation like 200 rpm sooner etc..

I would try a 9.8cm hsg. That should reduce spoolup by a couple hundred RPM. The 9.0cm housing is just way restrictive on the top end. I ran a 9.0 on an OS Green for a bit but ended up pulling it off. I still have the thing under the bench, Ratty, if you wanna try it. But, 9.8 would be a better compromise, IMO w/o trading off as much top end.

EDIT: Sorry my bad. I had forgotten, but I think that the OS Green had a larger than stock turbine wheel, so my 9.0 hsg. is cut and won't work in conjunction with the 71 HTA's smaller, stock TD05H wheel....Duh

Regardless though. I would stay away from the 9.0 and just try the 9.8 instead.

Why does this turbo come with a 9.0 cm housing? If my memory serves me correctly, I have never seen it written explicitly like that before until now.

I would contact FP to confirm.

Contact FP and tell them you just want to buy the CHRA and that you will use your 10.5 hot side. Also get a Evo ix waste gate and j-pipe for the install if you are doing this on an viii

FP has a couple 9.0 housings in stock but no 9.8 housings.

Does single flapper or dual flapper matter?
