3rd and 4th Gear Grinding

Hi so I have a 05 evo 8 roughly 108k miles on the engine. I have noticed that there is a harsh grind when going from 3rd to 4th and I dont know what the problem is. At first I thought it was the clutch so I got an Exedy twin disk and replaced the stock one. This was NOT the problem. After talking to some people they said it my be the syncro's but I do not want to replace that and have it not be the case. Any help would be appreciated, the car is almost bone stock besides the clutch, intercooler and intake. Thanks in advance

Take the transmission out and send it to shep or jacks. Change up the gearing while you're at it

If all the other gears shift fine and the clutch is adjusted properly then the transmission will need to be pulled apart. Sounds like it will need syncros and the gears inspected at the very least. Once repaired and installed I would recommend running it slightly overfull.

Any Idea how much a job like that would cost me? Would it be better to just get a completely new transmission?

3rd and 4th gear syncro's are about 130 each and then labor for just that is 200-500 bucks if thats all it needed. Someone that knows transmissions needs to go though it. The last thing you want is to install some parts and miss something and have to pull the trans again.
You can also send it to TRE/SHEP/JACKS. They can completely go thru your transmission for 1500+.
I'd also recommend a fresh clutch when it goes back together. The Comp stg 2 is pretty hard to beat for a daily driver /weekend warrior.

Definitely jacks just because the service is on-point.
