How to tell an Evo 9 6 speed transmission from a 5 speed transmission

A while back I was planning on building a track car from the ground up.

While sourcing parts for the build I picked up an extra transmission. The bell housing was cracked badly in multiple places from a pretty bad impact. I knew the transmission was removed from an 06 evo 9. I'm just not sure how to go about telling what internals are in the transmission.

I'm not extremely familiar with these vehicles and was wondering if there was a definitive way I could determine if it's 5/6 speed.

Thanks in advance

The one on the right is definitely a 6 speed. And it looks like the one on the left is a five speed.

The 6 spd is also physically larger and about 50lbs heavier. The shifting linkage look bit different as well. And of course cooling fins.

Thanks guys from your help I have found it's a 5spd transmission

I remember being told this when I purchased it a few years ago but I could not find the invoice and wanted to be sure.

On 5 speed there is a window so you can see clutch.
