nos on a 2.3 stroker

Hey guys am about to finish building my 2.3 stroker using eagle/wiseco combo with a 6262 DBB. I was told to stay away from nos on a 2.3 coz of rod ratio.. I just wanted to find out if this is true and if not how much nos can I run safely

Huh? First of all you mention rod/stroke ratio yet dont provide additional info in regards to the size of your crank or rods. But that is besides the point...

Why are you trying to run nitrous in the first place?

I'm not an eagle fan. Never have been. I wouldn't take the motor past 600ish whp. I would think that depending on the fuel and your setup, you'll be around that power level. I personally wouldn't stick nitrous on it. If you had better rods then sure. I know plenty of people who make 800+ on a 2.3 so I don't see why you couldn't use nitrous if the setup allowed.. I guess its really how far your willing to push the motor.. Like heel2toe said, why do you want to run nitrous?

I am using a 100mm OEM 4G64 crank with 150mm eagle rods.

Reason I ask is coz we dont get very good quality fuel over here. E50 would be the best.
I dont plan on using nos alot I mainly do drag racing and my tuner is about 6 hours away so I would like to keep nos as a back up incase of mistakes (gear slips, bad launches etc)

I plan on making 550whp on my setup with e50

I have heard of a couple people running nitrous years ago. It seemed like they would get away with a 50 shot then the 75 shot. Then they decide to go to a 100 shot and boom.

Personally, I would stick to one power adder (boost) and some race gas for track days.

I used to run nitrous on my 240Z and had no issues. I started with a 50shot hooked to the TPS & hobbs switch to get the turbo spooled and then cut off. I then switched to running 125shot all the way down the track with ~20psi on twin 16g's. Ran that for a few years with no issues.

I basically had a pump gas tune and would spray on race gas (105oct) without changing anything. You just need to tune the fuel jet and you are good to go assuming you have an engine that can support the power.

There is nothing wrong with nitrous if used correctly. I had an DA Integra with a fully built B16 head/B18 block, T04E turbo and 100 shot direct port controlled by a Jacobs Nitrous Mastermind. Turbo alone was dynoed around the mid 400s. With the spray never dynoed. I would guess around the 550-560whp range. Ran it for almost 3 years, not problems on the motor side. Numerous tranny problems. Honda trannys are super weak. With nitrous ran in Cali a 11.8, and losing traction every gear. Used a NOS direct port kit.

Also ran nitrous on 01 Jetta VR6. It was awaiting turbo. Had a 75 dry shot based on drive by wire throttle voltage. Again, no problems at all, it ran great. Used a Zex kit.

Ive also installed a NOS plate system on a 67 Chevelle SS. 300 shot on a built motor. Thing was absolutely beast. He babys it and 15 years later, still runs fantastic (short of replacing a few solenoids, adding a tank and rerunning the main lineset).

The problem with nitrous is simple: huge gains for super cheap. Therefore morons tend to up their jets for bigger horsepower without doing the math and building their motor. The jets cost almost nothing. The general guideline for nitrous for a safe spray experience, regardless what mods are done is.. 50hp on 4cyl, 75hp on 6cyl, 125hp on 8cyl. Ideally Wet as opposed to Dry and direct if at all possible (which it is on an Evo). I dont understand why nitrous is so frowned upon. Racers have been using it for years. To spool turbos, to cool intake/intercoolers and for power. Much like anything, if used wisely, nothing wrong with it.

Nitrous when used correctly can help spool bigger turbos and get you back into boost quicker if u don't hit a shift right and so forth, people that say its dangerous and you shouldn't use it just haven't seen it used correctly, it has great benefits combined with boost, it's just a lot of hassle to me. I agree with the eagle rod statement I wouldn't push those things too hard....

You'll blow the welds on your intake manifold lololllolol jk, I have seen a few people use a small shot o spool up their turbos but tuning and timing is key
