yeah there was a thread on this a couple months ago. They went from a MD... part number to a MZ... part number. If you looked at the oil filter that was on the car when you did your first oil change, it was an MD. I compared the quality.. the new one looks like they;re saving a lot of money. No one ever makes a BETTER filter and charges you the same price. Usually they make it cheaper and charge you the same price. Makes more money for them. They SAY the new one is lighter and has a better flow rate, but all you have to do is look at the internal elements. I'd rather use the one they installed at the factory. But alas, it's becoming harder to find.

FRAM x2 doublegard is an outstanding aftermarket filter. CLICK HERE for a good discussion on sythetic vs. conventional oils and oil filters.

I use OEM only because I don't know which Mobil1 filter to use...there doesn't seem to be a set replacement for OEM. Some say 108, some say 104, and yeah the 110s above...

The outer canister is only a small part of the equation. The Evo makes some insane oil pressure compared to most cars , including sports cars. The inner cartridge has to be able to withstand the pressure without deforming to filter correctly. You can call Chamion Labs ( MFG of MOBIL 1 filters ) if you need more proof. Take Care
