Help with a coolant leak

Hey All,

So I got my evo back up a few weeks ago. Everything has seemed fine, but I'm loosing a bit of coolant. Passenger's side around the water pump. Pump has around 5k on it. It had 3 on it when the original block blew. I put a new gasket it on it and put it on the block I built. I ran it for about I drove it less than 2000 miles and then pulled the engine to do some trans work and a few other things.

Now that it's been back up, I'm leaking coolant but I can't pinpoint it. I replaced the large o-ring on the main water pipe, no dice. It's not coming out the freeze plug on the water pump. I pulled my upper timing cover and I have a little moisture in there. I'm worried that the pump is bad, but I'm fishing for other ideas.

Anything else to check or am I going to spend a weekend pulling timing to change my water pump? It's ALL on the passenger's side. All turbo coolant lines and heater hoses are brand new and don't show a hint of leaking.

Well, I cleaned things up so I could tell what's going on. Seems like the pump is the culprit. It's coming straight out the bottom of the timing cover. I revved the motor and it started coming out pretty well.

I used brand new bolts and a mitsu gasket. crazy. I guess I'll pull the pulley and lower cover and see if I can see what's going on. Super frustrating.

was the gasket an oem? bolts torqued to specs?
I posted a thread on here, I compared an aftermarket water pump gasket to an oem one. Its different enough where I would not want to use an aftermarket one.

OEM gasket, brand new bolts, torqued to spec.

I don't think the pump is OEM, but I'll be replacing it with one. I pulled everything and have the lower timing cover off. Filled with coolant. I'm debating putting the pulleys and motor mount on to run it with the covers off, or just pulling the pump.

Man, wideband is coming in tomorrow. I was looking forward to tuning this weekend!

Okay, I feel dumb. It would seem that I missed a bolt on the water pump when I installed it. I think I had the tensioner arm on the motor before I installed the pump.... Oops.

New gasket on the way.

It happens. Thats a relatively easy fix compared to it being a leaking HG or something.

Yep. I was going to complain about having to time it, but that's a pretty minor thing and I have the tools.
